WHITFIELD'S DEBUT
May 27th 2007
SEAN WHITFIELD and the 'WILD' HYPER MAX RACER.

MALLALA

WILD DIGITAL'S RACE REORT

With Sean turning 12 this month, and passing his CAMS Jnr Licence, it was off to Mallala this last weekend for his first Superkart race meeting.

Saturday practise gave Sean a couple of sessions to have a look at the track for the first time and get use to his new HyperMaxRacer Superkart and Jnr Rotax motor.

Then it was into the deep end on Sunday. With four races to come, mixed in with all the Rotax competitors, adults and juniors alike, it was out onto the track for his first start.

To cut a long story short, he was fast, to all the locals surprise, very fast. His fastest lap of the day was about half a second off the very front of the juniors, young guys that were 2 or 3 years older, with alot more local experience in both Superkarts and at the Mallala track. Sean ended the day with 3x 3rd places and a 4th, total resulting in a 3rd overall for the day. This was a fantastic result, considering the steep learning curve of the speed of Superkarts, the handling of the machines and the new racing formats of standing starts and racing with a combined adult/juniors field. This is a a great start for his Superkart racing and a solid platform to build from.

When asked, Sean commented on that he thought he still had two or three seconds in the track, once he had sorted out the new kart set-up and was a little more confident with the higher speeds in the corners and can not wait to come back and improve on this result.

Then it was the big question, was this fun??? With a huge smile on the face...YES.....

It is off to Philip Island this weekend for the next Victorian Superkart round before going up to Queensland at the end of June and then back to Mallala in July for round 2 of the South Australian Youth Superkart championships.

Special thanks must as always go to Sean's sponsor, Wild Digital
and his supporters, Anthony at J&A Kart Tuning for fantastic motors, Jon and Dean at HyperRacer for allowing Sean to to be part of the Hyper Racer team, Troy from Topgun Racing for his constant mentoring and to his other supporters, Elf Racing, Sparco, Grove Fruit Juice for there ongoing help.
